This is the third #20in2020 colouring challenge. Congratulations if you’ve made it this far! This year, we’re making the time to colour 20 different, beautiful Bible verses, reminding ourselves not only of the truth of the words, but also taking the time to be mindful, meditative and relaxed.
For our third challenge, we’ve chosen this beautiful verse from the Psalms.
Psalm 31:9: Be gracious to me O Lord, for I am in distress, my life is wasted from grief, my soul and my body also.
Do you feel overwhelmed by grief and sorrow? The older we get, the more we see of it in the world, and the more we feel it for ourselves. No matter how deep your pain, God can help you find comfort and hope.
The grief process is like swimming through a rough surf. When we first experience a great loss, we are launched into a wave of emotions. We feel surrounded by darkness and heavy waves of pain. Comforting words are drowned out by gusts of sorrow. We feel lonely and out of control as we are swept toward an unknown destination in life. But we must remember that God controls the sea, and he’s in it with us. His plan is perfect, and his love never fails.
Once again, you’ve got a few weeks for this challenge. When will you make the time to sit down and colour? Will you do it on your own, or with others? Think about the way you colour, and your process. Are you quick and impatient? Slow and deliberate? What might God want to show you through the ‘doing’ of this?
